SPA 101
SPA ETIQUETTE
To ensure that you and those around you experience the full
benefits of IO, we suggest the following: Arrive early.
Arriving late will cheat you of precious minutes of your
Spa treatment. Should you arrive late, your treatment will
end on time so that the next client isn't delayed, regardless
of how late you start. The IO Spa environment is one of
tranquility and relaxation, so please respect the other
guests' right to privacy and quiet. NO CELL PHONES in the
spa or retail area.

PAYMENT INFORMATION
IO accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover and
cash. Personal checks are not accepted. IO also requires
a valid credit card number with expiration to hold all
spa reservations, even if a client intends to pay with
a gift certificate.
IO Gift Certificates are available for purchase at IO WEB SHOP. IO also accepts SpaFinder Gift Certificates.

SPA RESERVATION & CANCELLATION
IO strictly adheres to our Spa Cancellation Policy. If you
must cancel or reschedule an appointment, as a courtesy
to other guests and our therapists, 24-hour notice is required
to avoid being charged 100% of the price on all treatments scheduled.

GRATUITY POLICY
In appreciation of quality service performed by your IO practitioner,
gratuities are recommended. Tips at IO average between
15% - 20% of the treatment price. Tips may be given in
cash or by credit card at the front desk at check out.

WHAT TO WEAR TO IO
IO provides robes, slippers and key lockers for use at the
Spa, as well as personal amenities. For Thai Massage or Zen
Shiatsu, please bring your own loose fitting clothing to wear during the treatment.

WHAT TO WEAR DURING A SPA TREATMENT
Our practitioners are trained to drape you discreetly and
to protect your privacy at all times during your Spa treatment,
so being in the buff underneath your robe is the norm. You
may of course wear undergarments if that is more comfortable
for you.

PREP FOR YOUR SPA TREATMENT
Arrive 20-30 minutes before your first appointment to allow
yourself ample time to check in, change and familiarize
yourself with the Spa. We recommend that you shower, steam
and enjoy our redwood sundeck and some refreshments in
the lounge prior to treatment. Steaming and showering are
essential before any treatment, as the beneficial oils
used in treatment are best absorbed through clean skin
and softened pores.

PRE-WAXING TIPS
What to do before your wax:
| · |
Allow 3-4 weeks between waxing and/or
shaving. A quarter of an inch outgrowth is required
for bikini, legs and underarms. |
| · |
For Brazilian and bikini waxes, if
your hair is long it is best to trim so that the
waxing is more comfortable. |
| · |
Female clients may have heightened
sensitivity during the week prior or during menstruation. |
Be careful before you wax:
| · |
Do not use Retin A/Renova up to
30 days prior. |
| · |
Do not use Accutane up to 90 days
prior. |
| · |
Do not use peels (glycolic, AHA, etc.)
or dermabrasion on the waxing area up to 24 hours
prior. |
| · |
Do not drink alcohol heavily or sunbathe
up to 24 hours prior. |

POST-WAXING TIPS
To keep from irritating the skin:
| · |
Aloe Vera or Hydrocordisone cream can
be used as a topical application if skin in the waxed
area becomes irritated. |
| · |
Keep the waxed area clean, but do not
use harsh cleansers or creams for 24-48 hours post
wax. |
| · |
No hot tubs, hot showers or baths, sunbathing
or tanning for 24-48 hours post wax. Don't mean to
spoil your fun! |
To get the most out of your wax:
| · |
Do not exfoliate the skin for 2-3 days
post wax, then exfoliate regularly to help prevent
ingrown hairs. |
| · |
Avoid shaving between waxes. |

MEDICAL CONDITIONS & ALLERGIES
Please notify a Spa Coordinator when booking your appointments
about physical ailments, medical conditions and allergies.
This will allow us to further personalize your treatments.
Special conditions may include pregnancy, high blood pressure,
heart conditions, or other. IO practitioners cannot work
on clients with open wounds, abrasions, etc.

ACUPUNCTURE TIPS
Prior to your first Acupuncture visit, you will fill out
an additional intake form for your Acupuncturist/ Traditional
Chinese Medicine doctor. Arrive a bit early to take your
time.
It's best to have neither an empty stomach nor a full
stomach for Acupuncture.
Acupuncture clients are welcome to use the steamroom, lounge
and deck before and after treatment to take full advantage
of the IO experience.
If you are pregnant, make sure to let your Acupuncturist
know.

HEALTH BENEFITS TO SPA VISITS
The guaranteed benefit of a Spa visit is your immersion in
a calming environment, which reduces stress. Stress reduction
is one of the major contributors to good health. In addition,
many Spa treatments are geared to easing various aches,
pains and increasing blood flow and circulation. Take-home
programs developed for you can help you make lifestyle
changes for long-term benefits.

PREGNANCY & SPA TREATMENTS
Many women find that spa treatments are very helpful in relieving
some pain and stress from pregnancy. IO's Mom-to-be Massage
was developed especially for pregnancy. However, during pregnancy,
treatments using deep pressure and heat, such as Deep Tissue
or Thai Massage should be avoided. Mom's-to-be should
also avoid using the steamroom. Consult your doctor with
any other concerns or questions.

PARKING
Street Parking
As with almost any destination in the city, parking is an
art! Good parking (2-hour un-metered parking) is often found
on Pine and Bush, which cross Fillmore. Fortunately, cars
in IO's neighborhood are constantly leaving just as often
as they're arriving.
Unfortunately, we cannot fill parking meters.
We do not recommend parking in a metered spot on Fillmore
since these meters are 30 minutes or one hour only. IO clients
will need 75-90 minutes in the spa for a one-hour treatment
considering check in and enjoying the sundeck and steamroom
facilities.
Neighborhood Parking Lots
There are two parking lots just a few blocks from IO.
| 1. |
California Pacific Medical Center
(CPMC) offers its parking lots to the public. The two
lots are located between Clay and California, and Webster
and Fillmore. The rate is $2 per hour with a $20 daily
maximum.
Entrances:
| · |
CPMC Lot (open 24 hours):
2405 Clay St. (Between Webster and Fillmore) |
| · |
Pacific Professional Lot (open 7am-7pm):
2100 Webster St. (Between Clay and
California, behind the Institute for Health and
Healing. This is a small lot.) |
|
| 2. |
You may also try the 2-hour meter parking
lot on California between Fillmore and Steiner, across
from Mollie Stone's Grocery store. |

YOGA 101
PRACTICE SILENCE
Please turn off your cell phone as soon as you walk in the
front door of International Orange. If your phone rings at
anytime please turn it off immediately, this includes in
the lobby area, yoga studio or bathrooms.

BAREFOOT YOGA
Please leave your shoes outside the studio in the yoga lobby.
Bring any valuables into the studio where there are cubbies
for storage. IO is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

YOGA DUDS
Please wear comfortable workout clothing. Layers are best,
as your body temperature changes throughout your practice
and to allow for full range of motion and comfort.

PROPS AND MORE PROPS
IO provides mats, blocks, straps, blankets bolsters, eye
pillows and towels in the studio. These are for our students
to use, but we ask that you please help keep the space organized
by returning your props to their proper home.

EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM
If you're late to class, please wait by the front door until
any chanting and/or the teacher's opening remarks are
finished. It's best to arrive 10 minutes early for
class so you can sign-in, find your space and avoid disrupting
the class.

TRANSFORM YOURSELF
IO provides a restroom and two changing areas in the retail
boutique for yoga students to prepare for class. Please respect
the environment for Spa guests at the other end of the building,
and do not enter that area unless you are enjoying a treatment.

AN EMPTY STOMACH
Try not to eat a meal too close to your Yoga practice, as
a full, heavy stomach and busy intestines will distract you
from your practice.

FEMININE MOON
Do not practice any inverted asanas if you are menstruating
(i.e. headstand or shoulderstand). Ask your teacher about
modifications to those asanas.

MOMS-TO-BE
Yoga can be an excellent practice during pregnancy, but be
sure to consult your doctor or health care provider before
beginning Yoga. Please also be sure to let your Yoga teacher
know of your pregnancy.

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY
If you experience pain during Yoga class, stop what you are
doing and notify your instructor immediately so he or she
may help you correct your posture or assume a posture appropriate
for your body.

NAMASTE.
