Spring Fling: Travel Essentials
Now that Spring is just around the corner, I’ve season-proofed my on-board travel essentials. Unlike the seasonal closet change-overs, travel essentials are often left out of the ritual. Why stop at your clothes?
After banking my share of frequent flier miles last year, I realized that what I do on the road is just as important as what I do every day. With that, here are a few Spring-proof tips from my carry-on:
Cover up: Alpaca throws over cashmere
Cashmere no more! It’s alpaca throws for my 30,000 feet rides. An alternative to cashmere, alpaca, a luxurious and soft, hypoallergenic, eco-friendly material from a llama-like animal indigenous to South America, has better insulation than cashmere. It also stays cool in summer and wicks away body moisture. Because of its fiber density, alpaca throws are thinner and lighter, taking up less space in your carry-on. Added-bonus: it doesn’t pill like cashmere!
In Fiore travelers: Treate and Vitale
I’ve had enough of my CVS travel-sized containers breaking mid-flight, leaving me to befriend hotel soap. Thank goodness IO recently introduced In Fiore Treate Cleansing Base and Vitale Toning Floral Essence travelers. Not only do they meet the 3oz. rule and are sturdy enough to withstand the luggage handlers, the In Fiore travelers are flower-perfect for Spring. Light and nourishing, both products infuse my skin with organic herbal goodness, no matter what climate traveling to.
Make good on reading
Bring your iPad or book. Without the distractions of email or phones, time on the plane is one of the few places where I catch up on my reading list: books and magazines! Not to mention reading is a great way to get sleepy…
Get some peace and shuteye with Oyuna Eye covers
My trick to fighting jet lag is to get all the sleep I can on the plane. I swear by the soft, luxurious Oyuna eye covers, sold at the SHOP at IO. Simply wearing it tricks my mind and body to wind down, go to dream land and wake up refreshed. Bonus: wearing an eye mask is a great way to signal “don’t bother me” and keep the chatty neighbor or flight attendant at bay.
Pack it up: Lina Rennell zip pouch
The perfect pouch to keep in your seat pocket. Stuff this locally made, eco-friendly, handcrafted pouch with your in-flight go to’s, and you’ll travel in style and consciously. Sold at the SHOP at IO.
OM of NM Hydrosols
Made from organic herbs from our favorite family farm, OM of NM Flowering Mint Hydrosol is better than the Evian hydrating mists that celebrities swear by. With the added warming, immune system boosting benefits of mint, I stay hydrated and healthy through and through. Mist generously over the face upon departure, mid-flight and landing to reap the benefits. Other scents available on the IO Webshop.
