The Ways We Love

Next Wednesday the 14th, we’ll be graced by St. Valentine’s Day. (Read the story on why we have the holiday here).

This year I’ve been reflecting on the many ways we love because Valentine’s Day always conjures up mixed emotions (depending on your relationship status). Why must that be so?

One of the reasons is that there are many ways we, as humans, love.

The ways in which we choose to love can be as unique as we choose to make a living, maintain our wellness, or entertain ourselves. Being single or being in a relationship are both valid options for living a life, and one is not better than the other.

Being singe is a wonderful way to spend time discovering yourself. You have more space to decide how you want to live your life, without having to keep someone else’s in mind. You’ll also have pride on comes with facing life on your own terms.

Yet, on the other hand, companionship is equally comforting in a different way. Choosing to have a mate, brings an opportunity to share your discoveries, challenges and life with another person. And, like all chemical reactions, there is an inevitable transfer of energy that comes when 2 unique beings meet.

So, all this pressure for LOVE on the 14th? Push that all away. You’ve already got it – the many ways in which we LOVE.

With love,
Sofia
