ABOUT YOGA
The ancient tradition of Yoga, which means union or harmony,
is both a philosophical system and a science that offers
us the opportunity to deepen our self-awareness through
physical movement, breathing and meditation. The practice
of Hatha yoga can lead to physical benefits such as
improved cardiovascular functioning, stronger muscles
and bones and increased flexibility. The benefits to
the mind and soul are endless - the experience of quieting
your mind and connecting with your breath leads to
a deeper sense of well-being and balance.
IO primarily offers classes in the vinyasa,
or flowing style of Hatha yoga, which synchronizes
movement with breath. Please refer to the class descriptions
below the schedule to find the class that is right
for you.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
LEVEL 2: Previous yoga experienced required. Appropriate for intermediate students who are familiar with the Sun Salutations, standing and seated postures, and feel comfortable in twists, backbends, and inversions.
LEVEL 2/3 : For intermediate and advanced practitioners. Classes move at a vigorous pace and explore challenging postures. No beginners please.
ALL LEVELS: Students of all levels can enjoy this class.
Ashtanga Flow
A fun, hot, flowing yoga practice centered on the Ashtanga primary series developed by Pattabhi Jois but sequencing of asana has been altered to create a unique experience with each practice. Breath and movement are synchronized to build heat in the body, refreshing the nervous system and revitalizing the spirit. Empower yourself and gain mental clarity while enhancing core strength and flexibility.
Vinyasa
In this practice, students flow from one posture to another, synchronizing breath and movement. Often the class begins with sun salutations, standing poses, and balancing postures, then moves to seated forward-folds, twists, backbends and inversions. Build heat, endurance, flexibility, strength and concentration. Exertion may range from mild to vigorous depending on level of class and emphasis may vary depending on each teacher. For a perfect fit, please read the teacher's biography.
Lunchtime Yoga
Refresh,
revitalize and renew when the sun is highest. This
is a moderately paced, one-hour class that devotes
a half-hour to standing postures and a half-hour to
seated postures including back-bends and inversions.
The perfect mid-day break.
Mellow Flow
A calming class that induces relaxation through a series of gentle postures.
Flow slowly through standing and seated poses, holding asanas for longer
periods of time. Restorative postures will be sprinkled throughout the class
in which bolsters and blankets are used to support the body.
Morning Yoga
Start your day refreshed and energized with this moderately paced, one-hour class. It will begin with a fairly vigorous standing sequence to warm the blood. Then it will move to a deep, floor-stretches to open the body and mind. To close, play with backbends and or inversions, followed by a sweet savasana. A beautiful way to begin the day.
Power Yoga
Not for the faint of heart, this vigorous,
steamy workout challenges the cardiovascular system and the monkey mind. With
emphasis on strengthening the upper body and opening the spine, Power Yoga is
a wildly strong practice that fires up the body, while cooling the mind. Classes
may include more advanced postures like arm balancing, handstands, backbends,
and inversions.
Prenatal Yoga
Designed to support women—physically and emotionally—throughout their pregnancy. Experience a nurturing environment that allows expecting mothers to connect with their developing babies, alleviate stress and pains that often accompany pregnancy, and prepare for childbirth through breathing exercises, birthing postures, and relaxation techniques.
Restorative Yoga
This practice enables deep relaxation. Bolsters and blankets are used to
support the body in various poses for extended periods of time. Especially
good for stress relief, injury, pregnancy, and meditative purposes.
